i used this video in my history essay. thatnkyou for posting this information

It seems like the British went to big guns, lighter armour for greater speed and the resultant battlecruisers seemed to blow up rather easily and with alarming regularity. HMS Hood suffered the same fate at the hands of Bismarck. I don't know much but am reading Massie's 'Castles of Steel' at the moment. It's fascinating.

@HelmutVillam And? It still didn't take 366 days to BUILD the ship.
-
hence why we measure the time to BUILD the ship, not the time from keel to commission.
-
It didn't take 366 days to build her, she was laid down on Oct. 2, 1905 and launched on Feb. 10, 1906. Commisioned on either Sept. 1 or Dec. 2, 1906, my references don't agree on that point. Commisioning is done after the ship has passed it's trials, not when it's finished being built.

good video elswick....i was hoping for actual footage of a moving dreadnought, but hey, you can't get everything.

@NixodCreations They are booms for torpedo nets and old idea even then most navy's at the time used them when in an unprotected port they could not be used at sea. Most were removed about 1916.

Damn Good Job Elswick my Freind!
If only we still had her like with HMS Warrior before her
(which never saw action but did show the World just how good our Ships were, & unilaterally outclassed anything Napoleon the III'rd could dish up at us ; ).
