Gilberto Guarino plays Georg Böhm (1661-1733), whose name has finally been linked to J. S. Bach's as his teacher in Lüneburg (apud "Weimarer Orgeltabulatur", Herausgegeben von Michael Maul and Peter Wollny - Baerenreiter), was the creator of one (three, as a matter of fact...) of the wordly acknowledged jewels of baroque organ music: the chorale "Vater unser im Himmelreich". As for Böhm's keyboard (organ and harpsichord) music, not even one autograph manuscript has ever reached us. We came to get in touch with this aspect of his genius thanks to pre World War II non-autographic authenticated sources which had fortunately been published prior to the disastrous conflagration.

  • Can you give me the stops disposition of this organ please? A curiosity, but the pipes are at the opposite of organist?

  • Here follows the disposition: Great (Manual I): Montre 8', Bourdon 8', Flûte Octaviante 4', Prestant 4';

    Récit (Manual II): Gambe 8', Voix Céleste 8', Flûte Harmonique 8', Trompette 8'

    Accouplement: Récit/Great; Pedalboard "en tirasse". Appel de Trompette.

  • Thanks very much, simple organ but beautiful...but it has not a Mixture and a 16' stop? Strange...

    You play very well this beautiful piece.

  • Thank you very much for your comment.

    Att. NO MIXTURE, NO 16'...

    I wish there were such stops in this marvelous small instrument.

    You should hear Bach's BWV 545 played in it... It is simply amazing...

  • I made a mistakes: Voix Céleste 4' (not 8')

  • Once more, I am sorry... (such a hurry that I am making several mistakes...). Do forgive me, please...

    This is the final disposition;

    GREAT (MANUAL I): Flûte Harmonique 8', Montre 8', Bourdon 8', Prestant 4';

    RÉCIT EXPRESSIF.: Voix Céleste 4', Gambe 8', Flûte Octaviante 4', Trompette 8'.

    As for pedalboard and couplers, I confirm my previous information.

  • Your playing is fluent and lyrical. What a refreshing surprise to find that the great Cavaille-Coll did not restrict himself to building noble monsters like those in St Sulpice and St Ouen! I hope this instrument is, and remains, relatively unmolested by the whims of change over the years. Thank you for the upload.

  • The Voix Céleste is superb in this piece.

  • Thank you very much.

    No this organ is a small Cavaillé-Coll (two manuals, a complete pedalboard -en tirasse- and 08 stops). It is located in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, in the church of Our Lady of Carmo, district of Lapa (near downtown). It is probably #692 and it seems to have been built in 1898.

  • Beautiful interpretation. I don't read Italian but in your comments 4 months ago it seems that this organ is at St. Emilion in Rouen, France - is that correct? Also, I couldn't find any other information about this organ on the internet. Maybe you could post a tour through this organ, its features, and the cathedral (a web site maybe)?
