The result is a movement which is far more durable than the Accutron, and also more accurate. Accuracy is often to within +/- 10 seconds per month; Omega rated them at +/- 30 seconds per month.

I have some history on the Megasonic. It was developed by Max Hetzel, the same person who developed the Accutron. The Megasonic is a far more sophisticated movement. It has an asymmetrical tuning fork which is fixed on one end and vibrates at 720 hertz. The index wheel itself is fixed to the tuning fork by means of a ruby pivot and bushing; the impulse teeth are fixed. The
wheel sits in a bath of oil, and is magnetically coupled to the rest of the movement.

The movement, as far as I know, was exclusive to omega, I don't know of any other brand using it, altough probably it was developed, or actually made by ESA. Maybe ESA made also some demo watches using this movement, just like it did with the ESA 9162 movement (used, among others by omega under the "f300Hz" designation.
