Learn more at http://UMC.org/Immigration/ 18-year-old Mercedes Gonzalez grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. Just like many typical American teenagers, she loves music, church, and sports. But, Mercedes isn't an average American teenager because she's not American; she is considered a "dreamer" -- a young adult who was brought to the United States as a small child. Culturally, Mercedes views herself as American but she faces deportation and an uncertain future. If Congress passes the DREAM act, Mercedes and millions like her will have the opportunity to pursue higher education, enter the military, and apply for U.S. citizenship.
