Christopher Lee as a guest in the German TV program Tele-Illustrierte in 1984, promoting The Return of Captain Invincible which he also dubbed in German. The voice for Lee in the featured trailer is Friedrich Schoenfelder though. Lee sings Name your Poison in the show, while he did the interview in German.

Ilona Christen, here the show's host, died on 31. Juli 2009 by blood poisoning.

P.S.: Those who know me might spot my very youngish self in the audience. =_=;

  • Oooh, den Song gibts auch auf der Platte.

  • Stimmt. Es gab ja nur die Single, ein kompletter Soundtrack ist nie erschienen.

  • If you like this remarkable man, pick up a copy of his autobiography "Tall, Dark and Gruesome" - it's both charming and humorous. You don't know the half of his talents!

  • One should mention that the latest edition of his autobiography (with chapters on Lord of the Rings etc.) was published under the title "Lord of Misrule". ;)

  • its sad he is lypsyncing that song :(

  • Well, in fact he WAS singing it in the studio, but, as things are, most singing on the telly goes out lip-synchred (with rather grotesque effects sometimes).

  • Fantastic!!! Love the humour...Thanks!

  • @Thespilian so sad we can't hear his singing from the television show itself.... I so wish it were available somewhere! You're so blessed to have heard it live :)

And thanks for posting this interview...priceless!!

  • @ggweb1919

Come to think of it, he didn't even know his countries, failing to recognize Die Karpaten for Romania.

  • May not be perfect but definitely knows more than numbers and countries.

  • @OrodesIII

Not fluent, but certainly speaks more than "a bit" of German, that was my point :)

  • @brodieman1975

He knows his numbers and countries but he is far from fluent in German. Given his limitation with the language, it was brave of him to agree to be interviewed like this, albeit having had several simple questions repeated.

  • What a wonderful clip, and a wonderful man. I had no idea he spoke German until I saw this. And he is so modest - "ein bisschen Deutsch" indeed! He handles the interview perfectly - even parrying the interviewers poor attempts at humour.

  • darling man,so decent.

  • @Fartacus1 Welcome to the mid 80s! ;)

  • Wow...that's a really enthusiastic crowd...and what an odd format: the host interviewing the guest with their backs to the audience.
