UK children's charity The Esther Benjamins Trust instigated and supported the removal by Indian government authorities of 23 Nepalese girls from The Michael Job Centre in Tamil Nadu, south India. The girls were being presented to the world as "Christian orphans" to raise sponsorship for the Centre's extreme evangelical Christian agenda. The girls were neither Christian nor orphan. Many had been trafficked from Humla, northwest Nepal by notorious child trafficker D B Phadera. After the girls were repatriated Phadera issued death threats against charity staff on national television.
