  • Hi Kzaurchkichs Ive got another questions, I recently bought a godin 5th acoustic and want to add a pickup to it. is it a kent armstrong you have? any advice on wish model to add? I'm gonna buy it online and then take it to a luthier. or would you recommend I sell it and get another godin 5th kingpin?. Awsome playing like always!

The Kingpin uses a P90 pickup, wich is better for Blues... the sound will be kind of more noisy...

On the other hand, the Kent armstrong gives you a cleaner sound, better for Jazz.

The model I use is the Kent Armstrong HJGN2.

If you like the sound in my playings, you should try it, and you will also be 100% sure that it will fit perfectly...

All depends on what kind of sound you want to get.

    The decision is yours.

    Best regards,

    Kzaurckichz

  • @kzaurckichz thanks a bunch! does it also pick up acoustic string sounds or only electric? any other kent armstrong models you recommend? Is it the side mount or the one you can mount on the fretboard?

    cheers!!!

  • @metalhaze1982

The pickup will work with acoustic strings, although it will sound better with a good mic if you want the strong acoustic sound from the bronze strings, since the Kent armstrong pickup cleans out the sound...

I don't know many other kent armstrong pickups, for what I can tell they all give pretty much the same kind of sound...

The pickup mounts on the back of the fretboard, not touching the body. You only need to pierce two small holes on the body for the Tone and Volume...

  • @metalhaze1982

The pickup is not On for this soung, I wanted a good acoustic sound so I used only the Mic.

If you want to hear one of my songs only using the pickup, v=0GZ2pk5Yp7A

  • Did you install your own pickup? Is this a floater? Maybe some video on how this pickup was installed. Thanks and keep playing!

  • @Bigasstbone

I've uploaded a video just for you to see how it is fixed on the guitar,

    Thanks for the comment.
