If the lady on the TX School Board likes to stick to tradition so much, she should resign from her position on the Board since woman have "traditionally" not been allowed to "hold any position of power or decision" over men.

BCE just seems like its been plagiarized from BC, as if someone has sat down and thought about how to make BC politically correct and failed at keeping it at two words so they added an E in there. And then CE came as like some sort of deformed spawn of BCE.

So IMO BC/AD seems less confusing and it's origins are more "pure" if you want to call it that. Coming from an athiest so don't think I have some sort of bias.

I'm an atheist and I still call it BC and AD, just from familiarity mpre than anything. I mean I am not so bothered by the issue. It's still derived from a date to jesus anyway. If people wanted to be really pedantic we should be in the year 13,720,000,000

@pianoboypiano because there is no positive proof that christ was a real person.The bible was written at least 40 (probably 70) years after the supposed death of christ with no contemporary witnesses.There is not even one authentic signature in the bible.(Don't say history until you know the facts).

I think it is absurd to change a dating standard for completely arbitrary reasons. Sounds like a good way to sell revised textbooks and confuse kids that read any writing referring to BC and AD its absolutely mindless and arbitrary.

Well, the thing is that it *is* before and after Jesus Christ, even if we choose to pretend that it's not. Just like July is named after Julius Caesar and Thursday is named after Thor, etc...
