Artist: Tegan and Sara
Song: Our Trees from album "Under Feet Like Ours"
Lyrics:

There is mass confusion in the forest,
I heard about it on the radio,
And they're bringing in some guy,
And he is gonna go on and on,
About all the things that he don't know .

And there's some girl in the background she's screaming something
About missing trees and I'm wondering,
Where did they go?

No lines on the highway, no passing they say,
No green to my left and no green to my right,
And the man behind the axe always gets a full meal,
Cause green never puts up much of a fight.

So here's some helpful hints some breath assured pints,
Full of beautiful grace and we steal their space,
And death comes quickly so I pull up to my,
Double car garage hideaway and we start to say:

Where did all the trees go? (Doesn't anyone know?)
Where did all the trees go? (They went across the street to grow.)

Where did all the lights come from?
They said you're big before you're small,
I'm sure glad I don't know it all.
Yes I'm glad I don't know it all...

If the trees could be lions, would they still fall and be tagged,
Would they refuse to surrender, refuse to be gagged?

If the trees had a mother and a father like mine,
Would they stand up say praise the trees the trees will be fine!
So wake me up from this dream and tell me things
Aren't as bad as they seem,
And tell me is it so not cool to say who will save the trees...
Will it be me?

Where did all the trees go? (Doesn't anyone know?)
Yeah, where did all the trees go? (They went across the street to grow)

Yeah, where did all the lights come from
They said you're big before your small.
I'm sure glad I don't know it all...

Where did all my trees go? (Doesn't anyone know?)
Yeah, where did all the trees go? (They moved across the street to grow)

Yeah, where did all the lights come from?
They said you're big before you're small,
I'm sure glad I don't know it all, yes I'm glad I don't know it all.

There is mass confusion in the forest,
I heard about it on the radio.
And they're bringing in some guy
And he is gonna go on and on and on
About all the things that he don't know,

And there's some girl in the background she's screaming something
About missing trees and I'm wondering,
Where did they go? (Where did they go? Where did they go?)

  • So like the whole time I thought Tegan Sang This Songg.. Its Sara?

  • @SuperSkyyhigh I think this is Tegan´s song, but Sara also sings on background. But yeah, it´s mainly Tegan singing

  • I love Tegan and Sara's old stuff. They used to have a message to their music. Now their music consists of 3 lines repeated over and over. They have lost all their depth. They may have progressed in their guitar playing but their song writing has regressed. I stopped listening to them 2 or 3 albums ago. And yes, they hardly play their old stuff, their good stuff, that got them to where they are now. You'd think they would pay some tribute to their oldest fans.

  • @rileysproudmomma You got a point in there! I totally love their older stuff, especially Red and Yellow demo tapes. I love songs like "This Is Everything", "Heavy" and "Clever Meals" from UFLO. Sure, their newest songs are nice to hear too, they are more professional and kinda rockish (specially Tegan´s songs), but I think they miss something. They are still good, though. And it is what they want to do, they really like that music. They don´t seem to like their oldest stuff anymore.

  • i love this song too =]

but i heard tegan say once she would never sing this live now because she hates it & its not a good song..lol.

  • It seem like they don´t really like their old stuff anymore, but I can´t really blame them. Their old music is quite different compared to their newest music.

  • i love this part : No lines on the highway, no passing they say,

No green to my left and no green to my right,

  • This song was wrote, because they went to their parents house and they had cut down all the trees in the yard. My favorite song ever.

  • @rwmagbag No problem! I agree, part of the problem with today's society is everyone wants to share their opinion but they don't want to hear an opinion that is different from their own. There are respectful and caring ways to share differences of opinions. Take care :)

  • @rileysproudmomma i can see where you are coming from, and i totally respect your opinion. i respect you even more that you weren't rude replying back. thank you for not getting all offended. this band is a big element of my life now, they are in the choices i make and the things i say. sometimes i see things and just start to type what is in my head, and sometimes others don't like that very much. thanks.

  • Were did all the trees go?

I do not know Tegan…were did all the acid go?-.-

    lol.:L

  • @rwmagbag I'm glad you think that but I couldn't disagree with you more. But we shall simply have to agree to disagree. And as I've said I'm happy T & S still have their fans. I don't like their new stuff but I still wish them well.

  • @rileysproudmomma i also love their old stuff, but i think that their new stuff is good, too. they haven't lost their depth. they've just found new and creative ways to express their selves in their songs. the ocean, and northshore, i think they are good examples.

  • @VWpanic1 No need to nitpick... I never said they didn't sing about love. I said they sang about other things, not JUST love. There is more to life than love. But anyways, I'm glad they still have fans and that they are still doing well. I hope you continue to enjoy and support them for years to come.

  • @rileysproudmomma By "old stuff", I assume you mean UFLO, TBoA, and IIWY. But what's Frozen about? My Number? Without You, And Darling, Not Tonight, I Hear Noises, Living Room, Come On, etc. Sure you could argue they aren't, but seems to me like they're about love. If anything, I like their newer "pop sound" because it's more honest and they have more experience. They found their sound, their niche. Not that I don't like their older music. I love it all (I came here to hear this song, right?).

  • @VWpanic1 And by that logic, I could just as easily find meaning in a Britney Spears song or a Kesha song... I would say the theme in just about any recent Tegan and Sara song is love. They used to sing about freedom, passion and their memories... They used to tell a story. But thats just my opinion. Certainly you are entitled to your own, and if their new stuff has meaning for you, then all the power to you. Alot of people like their new pop sound.
