Recorded May 1, 2010 at Canton Waterfront. (See imprv'd vers'n). The Platypus Human Powered Kinetic Sculpture hits the water entry; rounds the buoy, but can't quite make it up the steepest upgrade in the 15 mile race, the ramp out of the water. Maybe that barbecue grill they added was a bit too heavy. Or, maybe that didgeridooing left them out of breath. But the crowd loves them, and they finally made it up the ramp with a little help from the pit crew and/or crowd. Weighing 3,800 pounds, 13 ft tall, 26 ft long, it's eight humanpower and two "barnacles" (driver/grilltender and top lookout) deserve a lot of credit for moving it through mudpit, sandpit, water, hills and streets on an unusually hot May 1st. Recorded from kayak SS Yellow Recyclo-Submarine, using Flip cam. Unsteadily.
See the stabilized HD version at link in the video annotation. YouTube Video Editor has stabilized it some.
(Actually, I think Platypus was dragging a rudder, or the like, and that was the problem.)
