  • i love peter sellars! he is the greatest person EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A very interesting conference. Peter Sellars eloquently makes a case that moral questions surrounding the bomb have been taken from the general public for too long, and that the public opinion is now ready to debate them.

  • the audio was not to good.

  • I cant listen to this, I thought the talk would be informative by AT LEAST one educated person considering the subject, instead it is just old men (mainly Peter) "OOH & AAWing" about how mysterious physics is and then crying about women not having jobs at the lab and crying because we dropped the bomb on Japan and not on Berlin. They obviously wouldn't have cared if USA dropped the bombs in Berlin, but for some reason hypocritically being to care that we rather dropped them in Japan

  • 47:30 Any physicist can tell the man in the white shirt (Peter Sellars) has no idea how experiential physics works in the laboratory. To him the atomic bomb is mysterious and he seems to be confused by it. Also he seems to be equally mystified by the fact that the physicists who made the bomb used tools like screwdrivers tape etc. Of course they used normal tools, the first bombs were basically table-top prototypes, the only restraint to size being the maximum allowed by the bomber plane

  • @RodCornholio yeah, annoying.

  • All this introduction is boring if you ask me. No offence.

  • damn people....same what they are saying...it's all about money...Oppenheimer was a Pagan ritualist. Look at his eyes...hi was crazy, but very smart!!

  • AlexanderOppenheimer, are you truly related to J. Robert Oppenheimer? I am doing a year-long report on him and would love to have one of relatives integrated into my report. Thanks!

  • RodCornholio, you are of course, right. Such pomp and arrogance made me leave the scientific community. Either be a scientist or a politician, not both - even Einstein knew that mixing petty politics with science was a bad idea.

The matter of the atomic bomb is not ethical, rather, it is a matter of the necessity of progression.

  • The generals were the originators of the surrender offers, the negotiations were mediated by the Soviets who where the main allies of the US and UK at the time.

The archives of the minutes of the talks have been available for study since the late 80s. You are repeating rumors that are not based in fact, but are commonly held myth, because they were published in lay press and were in Hollywood movies. Real "history" needs evidence.
