@MicMogul Good to see Southern Cross pay homage to GTS/BKN How sad to see such an icon just die like that. Im in Cairns now and SA will always hav memories such as these. I dont miss that crappy cart machine lol
I used to operate that crappy cart machine. Running on compressed air and whatever the techies could scratch up. They'd always ask me if I'd "thumped it" before they'd come and fix it before the next ad break.
I remember GTS/BKN well. It was the only alternitive to the ABC at the time unless you had a really big attenna to get the Adelaide TV stations. I lived there from January 9, 1974 to July 9, 1982. A lot of really great TV programs I saw on GTS/BKN in that time. I have some of them on DVD box sets now. I would live to see some of them again if the TV networks would put them on again.
I use to work there lol Soo Long ago now :) It was good growing up In Port Augusta and watching GTS/BKN and then later in my 20s working there switching the Tv live to air and running the commericals lol One big bloody headache that commerical machine! lmao
Yes, it was better than nothing but to me had a funereal feeling.
Broadcasting in digital is not that expensive to justify not upgrading Wandearah Rd.

Interesting choice of music, almost as if it's a eulogy. Fitting since Canberra has taken over everything.
The GTS/BKN of today lacks much of the huge connection with the community it once had. But MacBank don't care, so long as it makes money.

Does GTS/BKN still have "Tide Times East" and "Tide TImes West"?
