I built Lydia to learn to play slide guitar. So as you can see in the video I'm still totally shite. Note that the resonator in this guitar is an old frying pan. Check out my site at www.poxican.blogspot.com to see how I built this guitar and others.

  • I'm doing one right now, iv made the sound well but the cover plate is arched and i think the action will be to high, how is your action? any tips much appreciated, thank!s for the inspiration also did you build your bizcut bridge?

  • The action on mine is really high, too high to fret, and after I made a fretboard from scratch!!!

So I just play it as a lapsteel these days and that suits me fine. The reason the action ended up so high though was that the neck was attached to the body at a slight angle, and I didn't notice until it was finished....

I've recently built an electric pickup for it actually so I'll upload a video of that soon.

  • Are you using nylon strings for slide? xD

Well for 20 bucks I can say that your guitar is AWESOME!!!

I didn't know a frying pan could sound like that.

    congratulations for your efffort.

If you're really into the slide guitar you can buy a cheap resonator dude :)

  • You can't buy a resonator for the amount this cost me ;)

  • True but you can get one for 100 bucks...

  • I'd love to buy a really nice steel-body one day, but this one will do the job until I can afford that.

  • GREAT GREAT JOB - LOVT IT!

CHK OUT MY ROASTING PAN RESONATOR @ YOU TUBE - SHAMUS442009

  • Interesting build, doesn't sound too bad. Well, I made something called a hollow cross cone which means I hollowed out the sound board to increase its resonating properties. I think it sounds as good as a national and 1/3 of the cost.

  • Is this the resonator that you made in the other video?

Well, I guess you must have figured out how to paint a guitar, because that looks quite spiffy.

  • long time no talk brother.....mine is still in pieces!!! this video was in my recommendations!!! other things took priority for a long time...maybe ill have to start workin on it again!!! take care man!

  • Thanks poxican' I'm useing your video to build mine, its been so helpful, I live on a island in Alaska so shipping alone on a reso would be more than to build one like yours. plus yours sounds GREAT!! oh yea I bought the guitar at a junk sale for $2 & my resonator is a 1964 rambler hubcap..
