Open a command prompt (WINDOWS R and then type CMD) type in aurora /p65552 (or any other screensaver you want) and the desktop in a few seconds will become that screensaver. My favourite is the old 3dmaze.scr

To close the desktop, open task manager (right click on bar at bottom) and end the process. It takes a lot of processing, so don't expect to be able to work as fast as normal.

This works in all versions of Vista, this screenshot done on Windows Vista Home Basic
