Saturday 5th March 2011 - Dead Calm with a little brightness. Running slightly late, possibly due to a freight train, British Railways 8P Pacific 71000 "Duke of Gloucester" makes light work of thirteen coaches running up the grade from Northampton at Chapel Brampton with the "The Salopian" from Euston to Shrewsbury.
"Tornado" was originally scheduled for this run.

  • Very good Mike, I missed this and the Deltic, as I was in Somerset.

  • @acw71000 Thank you. Back lighting was a bit difficult but at least the steam leak from the cylinder had not by the time it went past. - Mike

  • @DownGrand1967 It certainly is! Sometimes it's difficult to capture the raw power of these machines. Mike

  • @S2RUF Thanks Stu; the location is a good one and running slightly late, the crew were making up time. - Mike
