@13b1cdw9g : not really. I guess italian words "ridi del duol" literally mean "laugh of the pain".

And that makes sense, as he's talking to himself in despair for being a clown and having to represent even though he is deeply brokenhearted... So I don' believe he's trying to laugh off the pain (as in a resigned or positive, "sportsman", attitude), but to laugh of his miserable condition, just like his audience is about to do.

comparisons with pavarotti are strange...while he had an exquisite voice, he had none of the heft or size in the middle of this person's voice, which is clearly dramatic to pavarotti's lyric. this is even clearer in the No,Pagliaccio non son clip. if one must compare, giacomini comes to mind, in color, size, dramatic intensity, and Taste; after viewing a fair share of his videos, ive come to the opinion that this person never oversings. tenor singing of the first rank.
