iXL Training Center - 9/19/10. Greg Stott age 47 @ 254 lbs. performing the last set of (3) JM Press sets. These are done after his Bench Press. The JM Press is a Tricep exercise, named after JM Blakely, who developed the exercise. A close grip is used for this movement and the weight is lowered to the throat. What will take place however is that the bar will not get to the throat because your bicep will hit your forearm. The benefits of this exercise are that they can be done after the bench with a great amount of load, the chest is not engaged at all and even with a heavy load the lifter can avoid the elbow strain associated with other heavy tricep movements. WARNING: This lift will humble most lifters. Don't load the bar right away. Understand the movement, practice then execute. As your JM Press goes up, so will your lockout strength in the bench press. Your Tricep development will increase, helping to make your arm larger. In the beginning don't be afraid of doing 8-10 reps and as you get more advanced you can make gains doing reps in the 3 - 5 range. iXL So Can YOU @ TEAMiXL.com - RAW means POWER.
