Big Mountain- Sundance Desecration

In 2001 a Sundance on Big Mountain was raided by Police. The tree was cut down with a chain-saw and the sweat lodge was bulldozed.

it was a lakota who sold da so call tickets 2 da white ppl n used dineh land as a show n tell. fyi. dineh ppl weren't paid. it probably happened da way it did cuz a group of lakotas go around sellin their religion. jus ask Nathan Chasing Horse his family held this sundance in Big Mountain. my elders dont approve of this practice among da dineh ppl. So don't go blaming us 4 ur own sell out individuals within ur lakota tribe. wut ever da ppl there is still 1 god. act native dont hate.

You know like they say, "everything happens for a reason." maybe this is a wake up call. the oceti sakowin people are always willing to share our old ways, but I met navajos who say i cant show you this ceremony or you cant come to this ceremony, i cant show these songs and so on and so forth, so how like they said before me, how would you like it if the sioux people did your old ways, what would your people think, what if they teach us your old songs. you always have to think of it vice versa.

I to am adopted lakota from pine ridge.. the only thing lakota people dont like or support is when you are selling tickets.. this is supposed to be ran buy family members. if this was being done in a wrong way it is for those that lived it. how ever No sundance tree should be taken down. and the white government will have to answer to creator.
