My 5" gauge Maxitrak (UK) 'Planet' battery loco at the Gippsland Model Engineering Society track. This was its first day hauling paying passengers, although it had run here earlier. 5 hours running (3 hauling up to five passengers) on a 55Ah deep cycle battery and still plenty left at closing time. :)
The loco has two horns fitted. The original buzzer-type car horn and a compact truck air horn that I added. There is not much room in such a small loco for much else.
The well wagon behind the loco in the opening scene is a Ride on Railways (UK) well wagon with seat added.
With all that shakeing left and right im amazed it stays on the track??

@15scale The shaking looks a lot worse in the video than it actually way. I used a deep cycle battery which is a lot heavier than the car battery the loco was designed for. So the springs were too soft for the extra weight. I've since added stiffer springs to the front axle (which bears most of the battery's weight) and it's a lot steadier now.

@vaupotic55 Loco has two 80w "Graupner Speed" motors - one on each axle.

Dose the Planet come with the two tone horn.
ALEXTHEVICTOR 1 year ago
@ALEXTHEVICTOR No, the planet doesn't come with a two-tone horn. The original horn is the higher-pitched car horn (buzzer type). I fitted a Stebel compact truck horn to my Planet. Currently wired up to the horn switch so that I can select one or the other. Will wire it later so I can use both at once. I have a two-tone horn I could use, but it is so loud that it can be a bit hard on the ears at close range.
