I went to swift orientation and went out 6 weeks with a mentor. They sent me home and told me that it would take a week to get a truck, its been 3 1/2 weeks and still no truck. I quit swift and us xpress put me in a truck right away.
@PREPARE4THEHYPOCRITE the companies u mentioned, there are ppl that reamin with them for years, but the vast majority of drivers leave their first big carrier trucking job in the first year Trucking compaines that pay a fair wage usually want drivers with experience I doubt if ull make more than 30k ur first year with a major company..their profit is in paying u the least they can..this happens cause they will treat u like a JITD...Just In TIme Driver. So u may sit for days until the customer

Of all the tricks they pull on their drivers the one I like is lay-over pay. If you don't get dispatched within 24hrs.of your last load then you get lay-over pay...yeah right. Right at the 22nd or 23rd hr. they'll dispatch you on some shit load knowing you'll turn it down. They offered the load, you turned it down...no payola. Even if everything was on the up and up it seems like your driver manager gets memory loss when you tell her about it after payday...but she'll check into it...forget it.
