God, please bring me back to the late 60's when I die...because that was my heaven on earth...the beautiful hippy's, smiling people, friendly neighbors, I miss the times. I miss my GTO, my hippy girl, and my dog, and I miss the peaceful music.

I do love this song (although as many have pointed out, it was actually written by Steve Goodman, not Arlo), which in a strange way reminds me of "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," written by Robbie Robertson and a big hit for "The Band." Both are about the passing of an era, but if you didn't know the language, you would think they were happy songs. Interesting achievement!
