Doc Pawsitive, Clair Thompson, "Leader of the Pack" at East Stroudsburg Veterinary Hospital and PAWS/Pocono Animal Wellness Services is shown in this video clip performing a canine neuter procedure, also known as a castration. In addition to explaining the procedure itself, Doc Pawsitive goes into detail explaining the health and longevity benefits of this procedure, explains much of the equipment involved in the preparation and performance of a canine neuter and other "routine" surgeries that are actually performed frequently, yet are certainly not "routine", as you can see in this video. Health benefits of neutering your male dog are clearly documented and include the fact that neutered male dogs statistically live 2 years longer, on average, than their un-neutered counterparts. Neutering, or the surgical removal of both testicles, eliminates the source of testosterone in adult male dogs, thereby eliminating testicular cancer and reducing rectal cancers, prostate problems, and certain testosterone related inappropriate behaviors such as urine marking, roaming, certain dominance aggressions and thus makes the older male dog a much more suitable pet and member of our family.

  • It seems that people want to own servile playthings. A servile plaything is like Caligula's living statues in Gore Vidal's gruesome screenplay; creatures enslaved to serve as ornaments or living toys; like semi-aware portraits or items of furniture. Servile playthings sit where you tell them to sit. They dance when you tell them to dance. They roll over, stand, beg, come, and go by the whims of their master dictator.

  • oh god it's Pain Olympics all over again

  • Very informative. My dog's going to get done on Monday and the poor guy doesn't suspect a thing. Best thing for him though and this little vid puts my mind at rest somewhat.

  • @darksantos1

Yes. Both are cut. The testicles have nothing to do with peeing.

  • god......this made me grab my groin in pain....

  • @CFDEngCo3 its hilarious seeing them wake up XD

  • @IamGodzillaRawr ino rite

  • I don't agree with neutering dogs for the most part. My dog is 14 years old. He's indoors most of the time and when he's outdoors, I'm right there with him and he never leaves my sight. I know it sometimes helps with humping but training can get rid of that. I truly do not see the "it prevents cancer" as a valid argument. Humans get these cancers too, yet they only have this done AFTER the fact. I won't say it's mean, but in my case... pretty useless.

  • being nuetured is very important for dogs so they do not reproduce as fast as they can. It is incouraged as long as you dont plan on having a bunch of puppys around your home. Dogs will recover from this fast. Your dog will act the same

  • I was literally holding my male SIberian Husky's paw while watching this. He will be getting this done in 2 months.
