"Shine On" by Nick Hewyn Holmes at the Manchester Busker Green Room June 12 2009

This is the debut of a new song of mine called "Shine On," being performed at the 21st anniversary of the Manchester Busker in the Green Room on June 12th 2009.

So, it's June 11th 2009 and I know I am not doing the 21st Anniversary of the Manchester Busker because they didn't ask me and they have printed the programme and I am not on it. In fact, the band (Nick Holmes Band) and I are booked to do a gig from 9pm on the 12th six miles away from the Green Room.

It is Thursday night and 9pm: I am stopped for a break on the northbound Franckley services on the M5 when Darren Poyzer phones me up and says "Do you want to open up the 21st Anniversary of the Manchester Busker tomorrow at 7? They are paying, too!"

I get there for 6:30 do the best sound check with the most professional sound crew I have ever worked with and I am on at 7:30, playing through two Bose L1 pa systems that sound like electric ice... I do three songs and i have to be out of there legs-all-a-blur to get to sunny Withington in time for the next gig... Two gigs in one night!
