The Whole Foods Market Veterans store donated five percent of
its May 26th net sales to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Band of
Excellence. Formed by Sheriff Newell Normand under his Cops and
Clergy Program, it seeks to redirect the lives of youth who have taken
the wrong path and provide afterschool tutorial support, enrichment
opportunities and guidance. The band is comprised of youths
ages 13 to 19 years, many of whom do not have the resources or
means to pursue such a goal. Funds raised from 5% Day will be
used for uniforms, band instruments and transportation.
