There's some errors here and there, as well as the fact my baritone ukulele is a cheap piece of rubbish, but I hope you enjoy. I've got re-entrant tuning on the baritone and it's also been taken down a step to make it more comfortable to sing. If you want the tab for guitar, it's here: http://www.indieguitartabs.com/bands/sufjan_stevens/01_all_the_trees.html

Original is by Sufjan Stevens, highly recommended.

If I am alive this time next year,
will I have arrived in time to share?
Mine is about as good this far.
I'm still applied to what you are.
And I am joining all my thoughts to you.
And I'm preparing every part for you.

I heard from the trees a great parade.
And I heard from the hills a band was made.
Will I be invited to the sound?
Will I be a part of what you've made?
And I am throwing all my thoughts away.
And I'm destroying every bet I've made.
And I am joining all my thoughts to you.
And I'm preparing every part for you.

  • If you google indieguitartabs the chords are on there

  • For some the reason the first thing I thought of watching you was.... Crash Test Dummies and I am pretty sure this is exactly what this song would sound like if they were to cover it.

  • Nah dude... there's not enough organ!

  • Do you hit the bottom string on the picking part? It doesn't look like it.

I've been trying to get it but i am failing...

Did you modify the guitar tabs, or are using the same pattern as the link you posted?

  • Hi bwesb. If by bottom string you mean the top string (the high e) then you're right - I didn't. It didn't sound that good to me on the baritone uke so I just ended up leaving it out. The pattern in the link is the exact same one that I used except for the missing high e pluck and the strumming which I added for the sake of filling the sound of the song in places where it would usually get more intense.

  • Thanks, i really liked what you did with the strum pattern, its a cool combination of the original song with the uke style. Any tips for the strum part?

  • Not really! All I did was sort of add in strums where there would be plucks. I suppose that's just following the melody? Either way just keep trying, I'm sure you'll get it. Perseverance is your friend!
