Inspired by the heroic acts of 9/11, 14-year-old Brad has always dreamed of being a firefighter. Unfortunately, Brad suffers from a rare disease called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, which makes his bones extremely brittle. Simple things like getting dressed in the morning or rolling over in bed can result in a life-threatening break or fracture.
Brad wished to meet the firefighters of the FDNY. Brad's wish was the 4,000th granted by Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin! During his wish, Brad received private tours of Ground Zero, Engine Company 210 and FDNY Headquarters. The Fire Commissioner of New York City even swore him in as an honorary firefighter!
Even though his physical limitations disqualify him from being a firefighter, Brad's wish experience has inspired him to never give up on his dream — he plans to serve his community in the emergency response field as a 911 dispatcher!
Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
