Here's the quote from VF: "aides have winced... at more recent high-end Hollywood dinner party gossip that Clinton has been seen visiting with the actress Gina Gershon in California." Nothing there that they can be sued for, so naturally they've refused to retract it. But why would they even print that unless they want us to believe they know more than they're telling? And it's all third-hand and shadowy gossip. There's lots more of this kind of crap in the article. VF has hit a new low.

The "fact" in this article is that "party gossip" is "out there." Why was this reported, during the week when Hillary's campaign was coming to an end? I think the political truth is very simple: there are those who don't want Hillary in the White House -- fair enough -- and they don't want her as vice president, either. So they leak this kind of garbage to influence the race. It doesn't matter to them if it's true or not, it's useful.
