Nothing to do with ears. He's demoing his playing, which is great, but he's not demoing the pedal very well. To do that, you put it on the floor and stomp it in and out as you play the same lines so that the listener can hear what the pedal sounds like.

Just ordered one . . . . I am playing it through a Blackfaced, Silverface Twin too, but I really wanted to hear it through a strat. I can hear hints of the Dumble, a little Larry Carlton and Robben Ford in there. Thanks
