@willregnier There was a record store across the street from me that was going out of business so I just happened to get lucky, even all the new vinyls were only like $5 it was awesome!!! But, very sad at the same time.

@DivinityOfDoom Where?
-

-
Nope, record store across the street went out of business.

@DivinityOfDoom lol probably fell from a truck

The new Debut III special edition is even better, it has an Ortofon super om10 cartridge, a 12" platter, piano finish as standard and new motor suspension. All for £250.

I got mine for $149 ... Bahahahaha!!!

I perfer a belt drive, less rumble, due to the elastomeric belt absorbs motor vibrations, plus the Motor decoupled to also reduce vibration.

If you buy the Pro-ject get the audio technica AT-440ML, no distortion, in the inner grooves, also get the acrylic platter, less static and don't need a mat,. I have both the technics and Pro-ject and with the upgrades to the Pro-ject has a edge, but heard with the Denon DL-160 MC cart, the 1200 sings.
As far as the Technics 1200, is one of the best direct drive you can buy and alos can be upgraded to, just goto "KAB Electro Acoustics" he sell parts and upgrade for the technics.
Yeah the Debut III is a great choice to start. However for my TT I'm going to buy a Technics 1200 Mk II: I prefer the direct drive sistem.
For the replacement cartridge, check out the Denon DL-160. It has a slimmer stylus that goes deeper in the grooves, thus tracking perfectly, with no distortion, neither in the inner grooves. And it reproduces a lot of sound details. Spellerine had a Denon DL-110, which is very similar: ask him for an opinion.

@lshin80 Thanks for the advice, I'm definitely doing a lot of cartridge researching atm. I know a lot of ppl are choosing direct drive tables but I personally love the belt drives :)

I have that exact turnable, also. Just got it about 4 months ago. I think it was $350 mailorder. Once you had it completely balanced, what number at the back did you dial it up to?

@MrPlatypus9 I set mine up exactly how the instructions said to, but it didn't sit level, I've got it on 1. How is yours set and are you happy with it? I love mine!

The stock cartridge is the ortofon om5 and while its a decent lower end cartridge it definitely has its issues. Dan is running an ortofon 2m red and i am running a 2m blue on my music hall which are both fantastic sounding cartridges that track really well. I also upgraded the platter to an acrylit platter because i didn't like the metal platter with the felt mat, it created too much static. But overall its a great table. Great video!

@ghmoney80 Thanks :) I've just ordered an acrylic platter also, can't wait to throw that felt mat out the window!
I'm doing some research on cartridges as I want to get it replaced asap but I don't have anywhere I can take it to be changed so I'm going to have to wait until I go on holiday, which is to far away!
