Social networking can be a powerful tool, sparking change and bringing
people closer together than ever before. A good example of using this
power is the Republican Party's new web page and Facebook application
for discussing the party platform. The GOP created these tools in the
hope of sparking debate and to get people talking about gas prices, national
security,and many more.

Another great example of harnessing the power of social networking is
FireFox's recent Guinness World Record publicity stunt. This still
has people talking—and downloading—FireFox even today.
ZDNet recently talked with Paul Kim, the Vice President of Marketing
with Mozilla, and got him to reveal the inner workings of Mozilla's extensive social
networking campaigns.

But the publicity stunt would've sunk fast if FireFox wasn't a really
great web browser to begin with. We've got a link that goes over the
top 11 power plugins for FireFox. These plugins turn your web browser
into a swiss army knife, replacing many other applications that you
use daily. Our favorite is the CodeTech plugin- it allows you to edit web
pages while viewing them, much like DreamWeaver or FrontPage, but
right from within FireFox. Cool.

Of course, FireFox is just a browser. And after all, it would be
nothing without awesome web pages to view. We've found two new web
applications that you're going to love. The
first one is called similicio.us, and it uses Delicious bookmarks as a
way of finding websites related to the ones you like. Think of it as
an Amazon suggest for the entire web.

UberNote is a
completely free alternative to Microsoft's OneNote application,
allowing you to take notes, bookmarks make lists and clip portions of
the web all from your browser.
