Good for you. Everyone has a crutch why not let God carry you? Sure beats drugs and alcohol.

@ubicomp Despite what it may have felt like, its hard to generalize even a small group of people. No doubt they were broken people in a hospital for sinners. I see however you consider the gospels and epistles to be fictional and beyond that the Torah and prophets as well. Was there a turning point to lead to this conclusion of rejection? I do implore you to not give up on your seeking, somethings do require faith on our part, even a little, and God does reward those efforts. All the best

@ubicomp Sometimes people don't hit rock bottom before they come to God but are faithful from youth. I think both are in fact inspirational stories. As a churched person you may have heard that He wrote his law on our hearts, also Jesus came to save the sick not the righteous. Everyone needs structure and discipline or else the role of even parents wouldn't be needed, and I would be very happy to find an unwounded person. I used to reason along the same lines so I know where you are coming from

As to MK's preaching, I'm fine with however preachy he gets in the confines of his church. I like a lot of his music because he has an ability to write lyrics that are mostly ambiguous enough to have meaning that is universal beyond whatever religion he subscribes to. Those xtian artists that lack that ability, no matter how good they are as artists, will never get my attention because their lyrics will always fail to resonate with me.

both baptist and catholic at an earlier age. It all felt like a bunch of frightened people bunching together to put salve on their emotional wounds and make them feel safer. Just because things out there are effed up sometimes, doesn't mean a 2000 year old fictional anthology of works is the answer. We all possess the character within ourselves to do what's right, of our own free will.

It's very difficult for me not to be entirely dismissive of bible thumping. The story is the same over and over again. "I hit rock bottom and god saved me". You all revel in this as if it's an inspiration. What it says to me is that you don't have the inherent moral ability to keep your own lives in order without the external crutch of "god". Religion is for the wounded who need structure and guidance to make it through life. Since birth I've never felt that. I've spent years going to church...

*super
I didn't hear any bible thumping bro... all I heard was a brother being real about who he is, what he believes, and what God has done in his life. He isn't preaching or condemning, he's just bearing testimony and sharing the peace and happiness he's found with others. I think that's a beautiful thing! And I would challenge you to open your mind... God bless.

is there something wrong with someone writing aboout what they believe, or is it only a problem when it contradicts or convicts you?
