  • Jeff, you just answered my question with your last sentence.

"our body has no choice but to turn to aerobic fuel...this is where fat burn kicks in."

Keyword: "AEROBIC" fuel thus the body is no longer in an anaerobic state.

Please explain it to the people you work with, they are confused enough with all the infos out there.

    Continue the good work!

  • Thank you, you as well

  • Jeff, I specialize in metabolic testing, with few tests under my belt. General population, and athletes.

Basic physiology: anaerobic means without oxygen.

Without oxygen, it's impossible for the body to burn fat.

  • I'm not questioning your background. But as I understand energy system training our body does not burn fuel EXCLUSIVELY from one source meaning one replaces the other at specific exercise intensities or thresholds.Rather our body uses fuel PREDOMINANTLY from differing sources. If you train anaerobically & tap out all or most blood glucose/glycogen stores & your bodys energy needs exceed anaerobic capabilities our body has no choice but to turn to aerobic fuel...this is where fat burn kicks in.

  • The reason anaerobic conditioning is so efficient at burning fat is because of the oxygen debt it creates post workout and the overall metabolic disturbance created. You gotta remember I'm speaking to a general audience and trying to pack some reasonable info into 45 seconds...thanks for the heads up though!

  • @oKRYOGENICzx

Anerobic cardio and conditioning is different from Aerobic cardio and conditioning. Also, they don't really crossover either. Both burn fat, but Anerobic will give you the definition toned body that most people want when working out. jogging will just give you hanging skin... example, look at the body of long distance/cross country runners and sprinters prime example of anerobic and aerobic

  • anaerobic excersise arent to burn fat right? arent they to develop greater conditioning for athletes not people who want to burn fat?

  • Hi Jeff, good anaerobic workout. One think though, it can't be an anaerobic workout that burns fat without using oxygen.

Physiologically Fat is only burned in the presence of oxygen.
