  • thanks 4 the review Capt Jeff!!!

  • @Jfiore10 No prob, I guess its only fair to admit that the drag also broke on this reel within 6 months so we are still looking for that decent reel.

  • Hey capt jeff i use a shimano spheros. They are not a common reel but i promise you they are dynamite. They are only 100 dollars and the drag is extremely smooth and so is the reel. If you need another reel you should check out the spheros.

  • @rippenitup77 Thats good info, thanks for dropping in. Ive heard from a few good sources about the Spheros gonna have to try one out.

  • so you catch 60 to 80 pound fish on 12 pound line.

  • penn 550ssg 5500ssm shimano baitrunner 4500b the older style before they became junk

  • hey cpt jeff, love ur vids. try van stall or accurate spinning reels, they work great

  • I fish sebastian inlet three nights a week . 30 lb redfish are as thick as jacks up here and a spinning reel goes through some punishment. I use the shimano stradic for throwing 1/12 oz bucktails. they are about $150 they last about three years. the reel I use for redfish and tarpon is the penn slammer. this reel will sell new on ebay for 90. it will last about two hundred 30 lb reds and thirty 80 lb tarpon. the parts are easy to replace and are pretty cheap. very smooth reel

  • Check out the Field and Stream Shimano Solstace combo from Dicks. I use the 4000 series reel and the rod is heavy action 7ft. I use 15 pound braid on it and have caught quite a few small tarpon, snook 30inch plus, and alot of Redfish and the reel has been holding up good, I got the combo for only 80 bucks.

  • Spinning reels are all junk these days, they all break..sure if you only fish a few times a year whatever you have will be fine, because most of what they make these days is what I call tourist equipment. These days its all about making a spin reel that is worth $10-$20, and selling it for $70-$300. Its like these companies just take a shit, dress it up with an attractive exterior to catch your eye, but if you fish regularly and catch nice fish it will break down within 6 months to a year.

  • Tight lines Capt. Jeff !!!!

  • I just tried Cabellas web sight. They dont sgow the AHAB anymore ?? Where are they made??

  • u said that the reel broke and still looking for that perfect reel i own a shimano baitrunner 8000d and it works great and it still holds up well got it about 6 months ago and another reel ive heard about is the penn battle which i have not used but have not heard a bad thing about it yet and its dirt cheap

  • Very nice review Catp Jeff!! It looks like a very strong spinning reel.
