In this shadow puppet (wayang) performance dalang Ki Widiyanto with Sutrisnop Setya Hartana and the University of Hawai'i Gamelan Ensemble perform a selection from the Mahabharata, Babad Alas Mrentani. This scene is of the battle between Arjuna (Permadi) and Cakil the Giant.

Cakil was a giant who guarded the boundary of a kingdom. He is always killed with his own kris in a battle. Cakil could also represent a persistence figure who was dedicated to his duty until the last drop of his blood.
