It's three days since the 1987 stock market crash, and Mark is singing the bear market blues away. He also jokes about the recent turbulence in the airline industry & takes us through a NRA fashion show to commemorate Florida's new gun control law. There's even a song for Arizona's Evan Meechum, who tried to prevent passage of the Martin Luther King holiday in their state.

  • The first part, about the Stock market, is ironically and eerily accurate for today...And it's interesting to look back and thing "Well, Ron Regan was right...it DID pass."

    well here we are again...

  • Simply amazing that this was 21 years ago. The issues are exactly the same, the stock market, airline problems, NRA, etc. Saturday Night Live is pathetic, Mark Russell is funny...and right on!

  • If you missed Mark Russell's great visit as a guest on the Dave's Gone By radio show, visit davesgoneby. c 0m and hear a free archive of the show (episode #354, which aired May 14, 2011 on UNC Radio).

  • @olr333 : THANK YOU! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with less-than-fond memories of that SNL "parody" of Mark. I've laughed more from Mark Russell than I ever did at 1990's-era SNL.

  • "The deficit rag, oh yeah the deficit rag,

Those budget gaps can be a twelve-digit drag,

I'm telling ya, that's the deficit,

They really made a mess of it,

    That's the deficit rag!"

lol > hey, he is funny (because he's right usually), but it's okay to laugh at parodies of him, because he's fair game.

  • A blast from the past. Still relevant today.

  • Mark Russell is still performing! His next show is May 3rd, 2009 in Washington Virginia

  • The more things change....

  • I wonder...Is Mark still performing? Haven't seen him on TV in a long time...

  • Happy Birthday

    Mark Russell:)
