Dont try it. if you've seen mythbusters, its the surface of the mentos that makes the reaction. there are microscopic holes in the mentos which the carbonation gets into. if chewed up, it doesnt work.
Oh yeahhh forgot about that, I actually saw that episode. That's where I got the salt idea...works like a charm. I think I'll try that idea with mentos and rock salt...maybe use tissues so it'll break apart quickly. Like I said before I really wish I had more resources at my disposal...namely actual explosives, lol but being only 17 and having strict parents that's not going to happen any time soon.
that doesn't work. the texture of the mentos alone is what makes the chemical reaction. mentos' surface has microscopic holes which caffine bubbles in thus makeing the carbonation in the soda to reverse back into it's original form so theres tons of C02 in it. basically, small holes-BOOM
