Here is another round of tailing Red Fish. The wind was blowing pretty strong and conditions were pretty tough but I was able to spot and land a couple Red Fish in the grass tonight. The wind can be heard the entire clip but even though it made spotting fish hard, they were not nearly as spooky. The first fish in the video swims right to me and is probably only 15 feet or so away.

  • It is a simple little crab pattern with no weight. People often use weighted flies in the grass which I think is a mistake. You want the fly to land with no noise and you don't want it to sink straight to the bottom in the thick grass. I think any fly with a weed guard will work, it's more about the presentation than the pattern.

  • This is in the Charleston area. My kayak is a real old Perception Water Stalker which is a simple little flat water kayak. I bought it about 18 years ago and it is still fishing hard. It weighs 33 pounds so I can pick it up and carry it with 1 hand.
