  • George was born in Wigan and moved, with his family to Warrington at some point during his father's rise to fame. When George himself became famous he had a house, with Beryl, in Blackpool. He was living here at the time of his death, although Beryl had died some little while before. George was buried back in Warrington, in the family grave, where his father lie. It is also where his mother is now buried, having lived to the age of 100. I have no knowledge of any service in Liverpool.l.

  • @Nojnotpu Thank you for that, very informative. Yes, the Liverpool funeral service was a surprise to me too. It isn't just rumour, it is documented on various tribute sites, but no one states why this would be. Oh well, off now, turned out nice again.

  • George wrote a lot his songs with a friend by the name of , Eddie Latta ( You can see the name on George's old 78rpm records,, or later complilation LP's) Eddie was a local Warrington undertaker and he turned out to be the one who conducted George's funeral when he died.

  • @Nojnotpu Thank you for that. Now, something that's puzzled me for years. Why was George's funeral service held in Liverpool? I know he was buried in or near his original home town (which is NOT Blackpool, other folks), but this was after a service in Aigburth, Liverpool. Any ideas?
