  • My parents raised me on OMD, Kraftwerk, and Gary Numan. I'm glad they were my parents.

  • Does anyone else think that The Human League (mk1) and OMD were kind-of like the opposite in terms of musical direction and what people thought of them?

THL desperately wanted to be a pop band, but were often written off as experimental science geeks

    whereas

OMD aimed to be experimental but were seen as pop.

    Does anyone agree?

(Either way, they both were successful in the end.)

  • Someone who said that Joy Division is over rated and that they only made noise ignores the huge influence of Joy Division on later bands and the millions of records that Joy Division sold. It's sad that singer Ian Curtis suicided himself cause the future looked very bright for Joy Division at the time just before his suicide.Rest in peace Ian.

  • 2:26 did the camera guy just have a seizure or what?

  • 0:45 THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST

  • I think the influence that Joy Division yielded stemmed from their growing interest in electronics. Both Bernard Summner and Stephen Morris had been playing about with keyboards - the result of which is not as obvious in JD's first album, but is clearly there in Closer. To me New Order became the band that Joy Division would have likely become.

  • Joy Division, Really. I have never heard of Andy mentioning Joy Division as an influence. Joy Division is one of the most over rated bands ever. New Order was a band Joy Division was just noise. OMD had a great sound and lyrics Joy Division was just monotone noise, I dont see the influence.
