It is true, many do neglect to honor those lost during times of war and genocide, but as long as we have memorials, testimony, museums, and events like this, it will never be forgotten.

Shopping Day? I've never heard of that, and I've lived in the US for 95% of my life.

More important than to pay respect to the fallen, we have to learn from this horrific chapter of the human history, I think that by learning from what happened is the best tribute we can offer to the fallen millions upon millions of jews, soldiers, civillians who died... Learn to never again kill and descriminate like the Nazi germans did... Peace is what the world needs urgently! The world and the humanity.

i'm not saying israel is the only one, i'm sure other countries do that too

But in some countries, like USA, its actually SHOPPING DAY.

there are sales discounts everywhere, everyone shops, and very few will actually stop to think and pay respect for the dead.

We do it as well every year. Actually pretty much every country has a day where they respect those that have fallen. The cars stop driving, radio and television all go silent for 2 minutes. This has nothing to do with Israel.
