Building an AR15 continues, here we move onto building the lower receiver, part 1 of 2, installing the trigger group, anti rotation pins, and enhanced trigger guard.

Part 2 will entail the installation of the CA required magazine lock, a 10 round magazine, take down pins, safety, bolt catch/release (BAD Lever), pistol grip and butt stock with function test.

  • ... I guess a lot of lazy people out there that don't know how to build their own Ar lol. It's so easy i can build it less than 1 hour.

  • @Vietboy1st LOL, I think it's great to learn how to build your own, then you have a better understanding of it's operational principals and as you say once you learn how to build them with an understanding of how it all works, you can bang them out quickly.

  • Are you on Cal Guns?

  • @EverythingisFire I'm a member "run8" hardly ever on these days though, once in a while, I frequent AR15.com (fjcaron) too, things go in spurts.

  • Let me ask you something, friend. Can you build an AR pistol out of a regular lower receiver? I'm thinking the receiver has to be a dedicated pistol lower to be legal. I'm really interested in building the lightest, smallest AR possible and can't decide if I want to go the 16" Carbine route and have a stock, or go with a short pistol length and have to deal with muzzle blast and flash. Thoughts?

  • @303Jeff Never built a pistol AR, but I believe, don't quote me, it must be a pistol lower or registered as a pistol lower. If you go with a carbine, I would go with the 14.5" then get a flash hider that will bring you to the legal 16", then have it pinned and welded. You could build a nice Carbine with the overall length with stock extended of 30.5" - 31" I'm into long guns as you can tell, so I would go that route if it were me, but you have options it's all in what you want to do with it.

  • probably a stupid question but I'm really interested in buildin my own ar-15, what website(s) did you get your kit/parts from...?

  • @fjcaron

Oh, okay gotcha. Was just curious since your from CA. Thanks for the vids, very helpful and don't seem as daunting as I thought building one would. Still may buy an S&W M&P 15 sport if it goes on sale for $600

  • @mrpicky510 Roger that, I get engrossed in watching the re-runs of greatest tank battles on military channel ;-)
