Country . cd available cdbaby.com Chuck Allen Floyd's debut cd, "Tonight An Angel Fell" cements his place as one of country music's fastest rising and most deserving talents. While this Oklahoma native boasts a vocal style that is a cool, gravelly blend of Don Williams, George Strait and Waylon Jennings, it is his songwriting that sets him apart. In an age of watered-down, "I was nothing before you" country music, Chuck Allen Floyd is a singer/songwriter with an honest to God point of view.
Stylistically, Floyd is impossible to pigeon-hole and, track by track, leaves the listener wondering what is coming next. Some songs, like the title track "Tonight An Angel Fell" and "Mean Old Texas" sound like country standards one would expect to hear on an old vinyl record. Other songs, like "Living Like Rockstars (in a honky tonk band)" and "The Right Girl" bear a modern production style complete with overdriven guitars and rock and roll drums. Throw in a dash of the honky-tonkin'-hardwood-dance-floor sound of early 80's and 90's country and you'll start to get an idea of what Floyd is about.
Lyrically, Chuck Allen Floyd is at his best when his admittedly "twisted" sense of humor displays itself. Songs like "I'm Not That Drunk Yet" and "She's Gone And She's Never Comin' Back" reveal a rowdy, tongue-in-cheek edge, while "Two Words" (possibly the highlight of the album) proves that he is a satirist in the tradition of Roger Miller. Still, Floyd knows how to be serious and shows that ability to great effect on tracks like "She's Gettin' Even" and "Every Heart Oughtta Have One."
A seasoned performer, Floyd currently tours everywhere from his original stomping grounds in Oklahoma and Texas to Europe with his band "The Hired Hands" and has shared the stage with a list of performers that range from legends like Vern Gosdin to modern country artists like Blake Shelton to revered songwriters like Pat Alger and Walt Wilkins.
Perhaps the greatest compliment an artist can receive is the endorsement of his heroes, though, and Floyd as gained that:
"The term "Country Music" covers a lot of ground these days. But if you're looking for that feeling of sitting on the porch looking out over the ranch; or driving down a long, straight Texas highway, watching the cows go by... this is your soundtrack. It doesn't get more Country than Chuck Floyd. Great for the car or the bar!"

I'm not that drunk yet
Although I'm sure I will be
Just give me a moment and I'm sure
You'll start lookin better to me
Right now I'm sober enough
To try not to do
Something I know I'll regret
So I'm not sayin no to You
I'm just sayin
I'm not that drunk yet
