The song was "Minn Hinsti Dans", written by Trausti Haraldsson and Paul Oscar. The following is a portion of an interview with Paul Oscar made by german travel magazine Spartacus: "It's ten years ago that you were singing for Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest, you finished 20th? Did you ever regret having participated? How did the Song Contest affect your career?"
I loved doing Eurovision and I don't give a shit about being 20th. The Dublin experience was the best 7 days of my life! Only good things came out of it. I'm making a lot of money because of it, even today. I met so many interesting people who are still my friends. I got to travel all over Europe, performing at gay clubs and Gay Pride festivals. I learned so much about the history of the Eurovision contest that made me love it even more. I'm still so proud of my performance, it turned out just the way I wanted and I'm so happy it inspired so many other people. I still sing the song "Minn Hinsti Dans" when I'm performing. It's a beautiful song, such an interesting mixture of melancholy and the power driven by dance beat. It has that tug-of-war that I'm especially interested in when it comes to music. That song changed my life, and through that I discovered my own Paul Oscar "sound", really. I look back and I wouldn't change a thing. The black bondage outfits looked absolutely gorgeous. Watching it today, I want to have sex with myself. - www.myspace.com/palloskar

  • I think this is a classy Eurovision track- cannot believe that it came in 20th position- kept remembering this song over the years and thanks to youtube was able to find it again! I'm proud that the UK was one of only 4 countries to give this any points. Well done for being ahead of your time Paul.

  • Cannot believe this on youtube! I thought this was really funky when I heard it originally, and actually still do. It is one of the only Eurovision songs which stuck in my head. Thank you for posting this. x

  • ok this is the comment of a half spanish half icelandic guy who recently moved in Iceland to study. When this eurovision song was played in spain all my friends were like:"wow men, are all the women in iceland so hot and all the men so gay?We want to move there!" but seriously, even if women in iceland are still stuck in their feminist revolution (something that is really passe in the most developped countries)and they love pall oskar, I don't see why men should be so excited about him also.

  • where did you listen to esc live version ?? I've found it nowhere...

  • i also prefer the esc live version, still this is very good. i listened to one of his last songs and it seems he became a bit commercial... too bad. this was much more artistic. I'll stick to 97, concerning Paul Oscar... :)

  • bRIllianT!!!
