gee.. i wonder why steely dan guy er uh. named Donald Fagen used an MXR phase 90 on his rhodes sound?
Why do many people use tremelo.... im telling you.. this was 4500 in canada.. and the keys were plasticy and cheap feeling..... there are many RHODES sounds... mk this and mk that... the taxi rhodes sound differnt than the YOU"RE my best friend by queen rhodes on and on. A one trick pony for 5k isnt gonna fly.. not these days. sorry.

I almost think it's an age thing that just comes with older instruments. I almost think that the precise tuning in the newer ones causes them to loose their touch (Just a bit!)
The Rhodes, despite being a fixed tune instrument, does in fact go out of tune over a long period of time.

could be. in some synthesizers people detune it because they want it to sound phat. mine was tuned new a week ago, but i still prefer the old mark 2 73 model.

i played this new rhodes.... in canada it is $4500... and is a ONE TRICK PONY.. no tremelo.... no phaser NO NOTHING... volume and tone. thats it.. and the keybed is very plasticy esp in the upper registers... and heavy... i dont get this product at all... for five grand i can build a nice home studio with software that blows rhodes away. esp this one...... ONE SOUND AND TWO KNOBS... I -DONT-THINK-SO

I am not sure you understand the concept of the Rhodes.
Why would it have Tremelo, phasers, or any special "effects" like that? It's not a synthesizer. It is an electronic instrument (since it has guitar pickups inside it)
It has no strings, it uses fixed fork-like, well, tuning forks (just about) and hammers with the same action as a piano..
It is only supposed to have a volume and tone.

agreed. you can´t see the rhodes as a synthesizer, better compare it with an e-guitar, because it has the same technics in it. at the guitar you have your humbucker´s and singlecoils, and it´s the same with the rhodes, so it isn´t a standalone instrument, you have to plug into an amp or something it. you definitely can´t compare it to studio software like vst plugins and software synths, the rhodes sound is uncompareable.

Pretty sure that's Brian Bromberg on bass... that was an amazing solo.
