The music and video in this segment is a collaboration between Sun Ra & His Arkestra and the free jazz composer Brother Ah. It was put together circa 1974 as part of the lost "Black Power EP" - a groundbreaking (for it's time) video EP that was never released due to controversies regarding Sun Ra's intergalactic belief system. The video was forgotten in the vaults and only released posthumously by his estate in 2009.

  • wow, WOW, wow!! If you can't get with this music!! Wow this music is Dope!!!!

  • nice vid sadly there aren't many Af-americans in science fiction.

  • Hi Yogstar,

I'm confused about the music here... are you trying to say this is originally an unreleased collaboration between sun ra and brother ah from 1974 called the Black Power EP? I can;t find any release details about it online anywhere... was there an official release date? which label did it come out on?

it sounds like a 'remix' using sections from the movie and song Space Is The Place?

  • Love it wooooooooooooah!

  • surely that beat is not part of the original music?

  • whats the name of the song in the background

  • whats the name of the beat in the background?

  • Planet Earth it is time to wake up. Sun Ra knew about beings in the cosmos that are simply on another frequency. We are out of tune...TUNE UP SPIRITUAL, START MEDITATING AND RESPECTING THINGS OF VALUE< NATURE, THE COSMOS, MUSIC,

    NOT MONEY, SEX AND DRUGS

  • Sun Ra really says,

We set up a colony of black people here,

See what they could do on a planet all to their own,

    Without any plight people there,

They could drink in the beauty of this planet,

    Effect their vibrations...
