As far as Sondheim remixes go, this is one of the best. I love how she sings this as if the character's already resigned to the fact that she'll never be with her love. She's just relishing in her memories/fantasies of him and that makes her happy enough.

I am surprised she did such a "light ' version of this incredible song. I would have thought she would interpret it in the sensitive soul searching way she did "Is That All There Is " and "When The World Was Young". Its a shame cause this is a beautiful and complex song and Peggy could have done a definitive version of it .

Dorothy Collins all the way. Thought Elaine Paige did it well - first time I'd ever heard it, and wrote the lyrics as she sang it with tears streaming down my face, but this woman sings it so simply.
