For $250 not bad i guess like you said you get what you pay for.

NO Cobra will have the performance of the Beltronics RX-65. Considering you can get a manufacturer refurbished RX-65 for $200 directly from Escort, there is NO reason to buy a Cobra. They make pieces of junk. You would be better off buying the actual snake than the radar detector...both would give you about the same detection.

That is correct, the city setting uses filtering and reduces the range of the detection

I have a question. I live in VA where dectors are illegal. Whats the best AFFORDABLE radar dector on the market for radar dector dectors?
