  • This story cant be true. Ryan blew his elbow tendon out in '93. Nomar joined the Sox in late '96 as a September callup and his rookie year was in '97.

  • Hilarious story. Has to be true, too funny not to be, but must have mixed up the hitter. Nomar joined the Red Sox in 94. He was at Georgia Tech b4 that (he was a 1st rd pick). Might have been John Valentin, but probably Mo Vaughn - both Valentin and Vaughn played together at Seton Hall in NJ. Vaughn's a NJ guy.

  • Agreed- I thought maybe it was a spring training at-bat, but couldn't have even been that since Nomar's forst year of pro ball was 1994--the year after Nolan retired. Funny story, though.
