@WoodChucker81 This is a very good tip. People think more oil better=less fuel, lean burn down. Great tip.

I bought a new ms250c and is a great little saw for firewood. I bought it 2 years ago,and just a month ago i picked up a ms280c. The 250 is a good home-owners saw where the 280 is in a hole other league. Both are super saws,and cut great.And i run 40:1 in both with Stihl oil only and high test gas.In over the 2 years or running the 250, i never ran hot or fouled a plug. Both my saws have adjustable carbs,and the 280 has that "intelecarb" . They both have quick chain adj. Im Stihl 4 life!!

@FARMTRUCK01 thats the biggest load of crap ive ever heard haha,(more oil than fuel in the mixture) just what mix is that 20L of oil to 1L of fuel? Stihl love people running saws at 50-1 they know they will be back for a new saw in no time lol

@WoodChucker81 ohhhh, i run every 2-cycle i own 32:1 With Klotz to bad it burnt up but that is a really nice saw you have now

@WoodChucker81 well since you burnt up the ms 170 i thought maybe you ran it at 50:1 I know its recommended but i like to run at least 40:1 because the run cooler and will last longer and will most likely not be as ample to burn up
the more oil you run in the gas mix the leaner and hotter it makes it becuase you now have more oil than fuel in the mixture thus meaning you have less fuel in the the combustion chamber making it run leaner and hotter ive seen people burn up there saws becuase of to much oil in there mix thinking it works better i work with a stihl gold certified tech i see this stuff every day adding more oil does more harm than good in todays stihl equipment

@FARMTRUCK01
Lean = more air than fuel.
Rich = more fuel than air.

you should really be running it at 40:1 or richer basically guaranteed not to burn up

What makes you think I'm running lean??

The impulse line on the MS170 had a hole in it. It didn't take long for it to burn up. I run all my saws at 32:1.
