  • *Correction* Noone gave Spike Lee anything. He earned it. It is all too convenient for some people to /ass/ume that "black" people are looking for "white" people to give them things.

  • also why does spike lee always hate on the very forces that give him money and fame: movies and television

  • wow, spike lee doesn't sound like a fucking moron for a change i'm actually mildly impressed

  • Then again, I'm a white guy.. so what the hell do I know about how black people are looked at?

  • I'm not sure I agree that it is the fault of the music and television industry. Social cultures change as you age and everyone remembers when they dressed and acted stupid when they were young. "Try not to embarrass your future self, is what I always say."

Everyone has to accept responsibility for their own actions. If you "can't talk right, get high and are out drinkin' a 40 on the corner scratching your genitalia".. you blame that on the music? Sounds like someone is trying to push the blame.

  • I think Lee's right, but I'm white so my opinion doesn't mater here.

  • They've equated ignorance with ethnic identity. And when they're told 24/7 that that's who they are (particularly the music industry and television) it isn't entirely their fault, now is it?

The dumber they're tricked into being, the easier it is to profit from them. They're young, their minds are impressionable because the part of their brain that is able to rationalize and discern hasn't fully developed, making them more open to outside influences.

Up with everybody, all over the world.

  • wow, did spike just say something profound??!

  • Yeah i did

  • Do you have any idea what you just said? Listen to this video again, listen please.
